What is MUN and how does it work?

MUN, short for the Model United Nations, is an academic simulated version of the United Nations, where students play the role of member countries and take part in debate and discussion regarding topics that affect the entire world. MUN can be broken down into 3 types of committees:

GA - The General Assemblies are the closest to the United Nations where students will take the place of member nations within the United Nations debating on topics the UN typically discusses.

SA - The Specialized Assemblies are similar to GAs but typically cover a topic that the UN has not discussed, SAs can be historical or ahistorical and may involve students taking the place of nations or individual actors depending on the conference but will have the same rules as GAs.

Crisis - The Crisis Assemblies are the most unique, whereby students will sometimes take the place of nations and sometimes take the place of individual actors in a constantly shifting political environment. Crisis procedures are typically very drastically different from the GAs and SAs and are typically more complex.
